Lost Class Ring Recovered After 47 Years by Freediver on Barbados Coast
A Ring Lost in Time
In 1977, Canadian professor Frederick Morgan Perigo lost his cherished class ring while playing in the ocean off Barbados. Despite an extensive search, the MacMaster University ring, a gift from his graduation in 1965, was never found. For 47 years, it seemed like the ring was gone forever.
Miraculous Discovery
Fast forward to 2024, and Perigo’s ring was found by a fellow MacMaster alumnus, Alex Davis, a professional freediver. Armed with an underwater metal detector, Davis discovered the gold and ruby ring, engraved with the initials “FMP.” Recognizing it as belonging to a fellow graduate, Davis reached out to the university.
A Joyous Reunion
With the help of alumni officer Laura Escalante, the ring was quickly identified and returned to Perigo just in time for his 83rd birthday. This miraculous reunion after decades under the sea is a heartwarming reminder that some treasures are simply meant to be found, no matter how long it takes.
