Malala Yousafzai and Billie Jean King Team Up to Champion Women’s Sports

Nobel laureate Malala Yousafzai and tennis legend Billie Jean King have launched a $10 million initiative to boost investment in women’s professional sports leagues, particularly the WNBA and National Women’s Soccer League (NWSL). The partnership will:

• Fund scholarships for female athletes in developing countries
• Lobby for equal media coverage of women’s sports
• Create mentorship programs pairing pros with young players

“When girls see women excelling in sports, they see new possibilities for themselves,” said Yousafzai at the announcement.
