Utah Power Plant Cuts Emissions 75% With Hydrogen Breakthrough

A bold experiment in Utah is rewriting energy rules: The Intermountain Power Project now blends 30% hydrogen with natural gas, drastically reducing emissions while keeping lights on across six states.

⚡ How It Works:

  • Hydrogen produced using excess solar/wind power
  • Existing turbines modified to handle the mix
  • Zero new infrastructure needed

“By 2025, we’ll be at 100% hydrogen,” says engineer Rosa Liang. The model is being replicated in Japan and Germany—potentially saving 1.2 billion tons of CO2 annually if adopted globally.
