Wendy’s Worker: Quick-Thinking Hero Saves Customer’s Life

Alexandria Cowheard, a 22-year-old Wendy’s worker and aspiring nursing assistant, found herself thrust into a life-saving situation when a customer collapsed in the parking lot.

Responding to her coworker’s alert, Cowheard rushed to the unconscious man, who had already triggered a 911 call. Despite the pressure of the moment, her training kicked in. Having learned CPR in her senior year of high school, she took charge, recognizing the urgency in the color of the man’s face.

Maintaining composure, Cowheard recalled, “I didn’t panic visibly, but in the back of my mind, I was like, what do I do. I kind of short-circuited a little bit before I was like, ‘Girl, you know how to do CPR; get over here and do these chest compressions.’”

In those critical moments, her training proved invaluable. Performing chest compressions, she witnessed a hopeful sign as the man responded, exhibiting signs of breathing and consciousness. The entire episode, though swift, felt like an eternity in the adrenaline-charged atmosphere.

Remarkably, Cowheard is not just a Wendy’s employee; she is also pursuing her education at BCTC to become a certified nursing assistant. Her aspirations extend to working in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) once she completes her studies.
